Most patients feel little to no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin — nothing like a hypodermic needle. You may feel a brief, mild sensation when a needle is inserted, often described as a slight pressure or warmth. Most people relax deeply and many fall asleep.
It depends on the condition and its chronicity. Acute issues may resolve in 3–6 sessions. Chronic conditions typically require 6–12 sessions over 4–12 weeks. We'll give you a clear treatment plan after your first visit, and you'll typically feel measurable improvement within 3–5 sessions.
We currently accept HSA and FSA cards, which cover acupuncture. We are pursuing in-network status with Blue Cross of Idaho and Regence. For other insurers, we can provide a Superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many patients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement.
Eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your session (don't come on an empty stomach). Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and heavy exercise immediately before. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to your arms, legs, and abdomen. Arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first visit.
Yes, acupuncture is generally safe throughout pregnancy when performed by a licensed practitioner. We have specific protocols for each trimester and can support nausea, back pain, breech positioning, and labor preparation. Always let us know if you are pregnant.
